Plan B named for London 2012 Olympics music festival

The BBC is set to launch a rival music festival to Glastonbury to coincide with the London Olympics next summer, with Leona Lewis and Plan B among the artists on the bill. The two star names are among the first to sign up for BBC Radio 1′s Hackney Weekend 2012, which is set to feature around 80 international artists, bands and DJs. The free concert at the capital’s Hackney Marshes will take place on June 23rd and 24th 2012, the same weekend as the Glastonbury Festival – which is taking a year off in 2012 – usually takes place. Plan B wins 3 prizes at The Ivors 2011

Plan B has won three prizes at the Ivor Novellos, including best songwriter – presented by Sir Elton John – and best album. The singer, real name Ben Drew, also won most performed song for She Said, telling the audience the more popular it became “the more I hated it”.
